Happy Sunday, everyone! This week was full of training and meetings and planning for me. So, not a lot of art therapy projects happened this week! But, as you can see, my desk garden is looking beautiful and I’ve had some fun things happening in my own studio. Read on to check them out!
I don’t have much to share here this week, but I’ve been in planning mode for a lot of new workshops and programs, so stay tuned!
This week I made a list of drawing prompts for the month of September. It was so much fun creating these! I’ll be doing this daily drawing challenge all month, along with my two studio pals and fellow art therapists, Rubi and Kevin. Follow our art adventures on Instagram if you’d like, and if use any of these prompts, use #septemberscribbles so we can see your artwork!
In other studio news, I purchased Jane Davenport’s Mermaid Markers this week and I absolutely LOVE them. They are brush markers filled with a highly pigmented ink, that you can use with or without water. The colours are gorgeous and the ink flows through the brush tip so easily. I’m so excited to try some of the drawing prompts for this month using these!
Everyday Art Room is a podcast hosted by Cassie Stephens. She’s an awesome, energetic art teacher, and on this podcast she shares her tips and strategies for elementary art teaching. As an art therapist, I find that the way she approaches teaching her students is really aligned with some of the principles of art therapy, and I’d recommend this podcast to anyone in the art therapy or art teaching field! Her blog is also filled with TONS of inspiration for art directives – she has amazing video tutorials and is great at breaking art activities down into simple steps.
Thanks so much for reading and, as always, feel free to leave a comment and tell me what arty things you’ve been up to! Have a great long weekend!
